We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and doing as well as possible during these difficult times. Following consultation and discussion with the Conference Committee and Focus Group leaders, the Governing Council confirmed that because of the challenges presented by COVID-19, ATHE will not be hosting an in-person conference this summer in Detroit. In the next few weeks, various ATHE committees will be meeting to discuss virtual opportunities for members to share and present their work, as well as address the effects of this particular moment on the arts and higher education. Read more about the decision.
At the moment, ATHE’s leadership is weighing all the options on what our annual conference would look like in a moment such as this. We do not know how the disease will progress, what the effects of the economic shutdown will be, or what impact that might have on our conference, currently scheduled for July 29 to August 2 in Detroit.
ATHE President Josh Abrams recently issued ATHE's response to the spread of COVID-19.
He writes, in part:
"There is a great deal of time between now and the July 29 opening of the annual conference. At present, we expect that the conference will take place at the Detroit Marriott as planned, but we are closely monitoring the developments regarding COVID-19 and will be in touch with members and registered attendees should things change."
