In response to universities and colleges moving to online coursework for the remainder of the academic year, ATHE’s performance-based focus groups announce a “virtual guest artist” program to help provide content for performance-based classes..

VIRTUAL GUEST ARTIST PROGRAM
This program has been designed for this emergency situation where instructors in the performance areas of theatre (whose courses do not translate well to an online format) are searching for alternative ways to provide quality lessons and/or content to augment their online courses. ATHE’s performance-based focus groups are spearheading this effort that will connect instructors with volunteer presenters (in and out of the academy) willing to offer an online session in their area of expertise. Under these unprecedented circumstances, a virtual platform may provide students with an opportunity to learn from outstanding artists/teachers nationally and internationally.

For those willing to volunteer as a virtual guest artist:

For those seeking to host a virtual guest artist:

  • We will collect all submitted forms from our guest artist volunteers and then they will be made accessible for review via the ATHE website.
  • Once possible sessions/workshops are listed on the ATHE website, instructors can contact volunteer presenters directly via email to establish a date and time for a session. All sessions must be privately hosted through either the instructor’s or presenter’s institution or organization. Most universities and colleges have access to live conferencing cloud software such as ZOOM, GotoMeeting, and the like. At this time, ATHE cannot provide video conferencing software.
  • Once a date and time has been established, that class will be added to a calendar accessible through the ATHE website with video conferencing invite link provided by the presenter. Thus, the workshop/lesson could be available to more classrooms than just the interested instructor. If the volunteering educator allows it, the session will be recorded and the recorded class can be made available through the ATHE YouTube Channel.

If you have further questions, reach out to ATHE's Focus Group Representatives.

A list of guest artists who have signed up is available.

Be well during these difficult times!
