An Update from ATHE
Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Dear ATHE Membership,
In the last two weeks, our professional and personal lives have been upended in a myriad of ways. Our classrooms went from sprung floors to cell phones, lively discussions to digital silence. We understand that now, more than ever, connecting with colleagues across the country is important.
As you know, the annual ATHE Conference is scheduled for July 29 - August 2, 2020 in Detroit. ATHE is committed to the safety and well-being of its membership and is monitoring the daily updates from the CDC, the meetings and events industry and the Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau regarding COVID-19 and holding large gatherings. At the present moment, ATHE intends to hold the 2020 Conference in Detroit. We are working with our partners at the Detroit Marriott, and we will be proactive in keeping our members updated about our plans. Conference updates will be sent via email and added to the announcements page on the website.
In the interim, please review the other news items in ATHE news this month. ATHE’s Performance-based Focus Groups are spearheading a “virtual guest artist” forum for online classrooms. In addition, ATHE is still moving forward with nominations for next year’s leadership positions. Consider nominating a colleague or yourself: volunteering to be a part of ATHE’s governing council offers a significant opportunity for leadership in the profession and the association. We seek members with enthusiasm for understanding and engaging our communities, enhancing our core operations, and expanding our offerings to all members.
Stay healthy, stay home, but most of all, stay connected!
