Announcing the ATHE Task Force on Focus Groups

Greetings everyone! I hope all of your respective semesters are off to wonderful starts. As part of my responsibilities (or should I say privileges) as President-Elect, I have been charged with forming a task force to examine the role of focus groups within ATHE. Focus groups have existed as a vital, foundational part of ATHE’s structure for many years and provide one of the primary entry points for many, if not most, of its members to the larger organization. This committee will look back at how focus groups have functioned over time, review how they currently work, and explore how they might operate in the future. We will look at the policies and procedures currently in place for the interaction between focus groups and the larger ATHE membership and propose areas for clarification and better transparency for all members. We will begin our work this fall and present a preliminary report to the Governing Council at the midyear meeting in January. Some members have already expressed their interest in serving on this committee. If you are interested in participating, please send me an email. I will be pulling together a committee that represents the widest spectrum of membership possible. Thanks so much!

Chase Bringardner
President-Elect, ATHE
