ATHE Spotlights Conference Co-Sponsor

ATHE is proud to spotlight conference co-sponsor, the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Our work together to advance the mission and goals of theatre in higher education and in society at large is an apt representation of our conference theme.

Ongoing advocacy and collaboration with arts organizations who speak to the necessity of theatre in our schools and society is even more crucial now as economic cuts in the academy and in arts organizations continue to grow with no end in sight.

ATHE and KCACTF have a long standing relationship in supporting theatre in higher education, through our co-sponsored awards in playwriting, dramaturgy and teaching excellence. ATHE’s governance is strengthened by the ongoing participation of a KCACTF liaison to its Governing Council.

As a national sponsor of Arts Advocacy Day for the past several years, ATHE sends its Vice President for Advocacy to this important national effort in the capitol to educate legislators about the important role of theatre. We appreciate the contributions of the Americans for the Arts to this conference through the Friday Plenary Session,” The Advocacy Imperative,” and two hands-on break-out workshops.
