New Blog Post about Patriotic Social Activism and Theatre

Posted By Joan Lipkin, That Uppity Theatre Company, Friday, July 27, 2018
I’m writing to share a blog I was commissioned to write for an international arts and activism group, the H.E.A.T Collective. It talks about the free high spectacle birthday party we collectively threw for the resistance as a form of activism on Flag Day (which also happens to be Trump’s birthday).

It also focuses on our free large scale non partisan upcoming Dance the Vote project that we are producing at the Missouri History Museum on Oct 6 in St Louis with many dance companies, poets, spoken word artists and community organizations to promote voting awareness and voter registration in advance of the crucial midterm 2018 elections on Nov 6.

I offer both projects as DIY models which people should feel free to adopt in any way for their own communities to utilize the arts to promote voting if they find it useful.
