Roundtable on Teaching Improvisational Comedy in a Liberal Arts Setting

Posted By Hillary Bucs, Western New England University, Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Hello,

Since we will be in Chicago, the home of Chicago Improv, Kathleen Sills and I thought it would be a good opportunity to create a Roundtable on Best Practices of Teaching Improvisational Comedy in a Liberal Arts Setting. I already have three participants who have all written books on Improvisational Theatre who are eager to share their syllabi and methodologies. I am personally interested in how to teach the different methodologies (Spolin, Second City, I.O, Annoyance, UCB, Short Form, LongForm) in a single course when students may only be able to take 1 ARTS course for their GUR/GCR.

If you are interested in being part of the roundtable please send the following to hhbucs@gmail.com:

 Name
* Affiliation
* Rank (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Lecturer, Adjunct, Graduate Student, etc.)
* A brief description of your Improvisational Comedy focus in your teaching.

 Thank you!
