The purpose of ATHE’s 2008 plenary, “Elephants in the Room? Manifestos on Issues We Don’t Want to Talk About” was to invite and generate dialogue on critical issues affecting the field of theatre, the state of theatre in the academy, issues in higher education, the job market in professional theatre, and the turbulent socioeconomic and cultural climate in which our association exists.
