ATHE Announces New Management Company
Tuesday, September 30, 2014
Today, ATHE President Henry Bial announced the selection of a new management company to succeed Erickson and Associates Consulting, LLC.
His communication is below.
Dear ATHE Members:
On behalf of the Governing Council, I am pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Ewald Consulting to succeed Erickson and Associates Consulting, LLC, as ATHE’s management services provider. Transition activities will begin October 1, and the new firm will officially take over management responsibilities on December 1, 2014.
Headquartered in St. Paul with an office in Chicago, Ewald Consulting has served non-profit organizations for over thirty-two years and is a charter accredited Association Management Company through the Association Management Company Institute. Their experience in managing over forty organizations of varying size, scope and mission will enhance ATHE’s ability to support and advance the study and practice of theatre and performance in higher education.
Eric Ewald, C.A.E., M.B.A., as Senior Advisor to ATHE, will provide advice, counsel and support to the Governing Council and volunteer leaders in the development, evolution and execution of ATHE’s mission, vision and strategic plan. Overall management responsibility lies with the incoming Executive Director, Andy Shelp, with oversight by the Senior Advisor. Based in Ewald’s Chicago office, Andy will become ATHE’s Executive Director as of December 1.
Our outgoing Executive Director Nancy Erickson will work with Andy and the rest of the Ewald staff through December 31, 2014 to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. Shaun Franklin-Sewell will continue in his role as Communications Manager reporting to Andy through May 31, 2015.
Effective December 1, 2014, our new mailing address will be:
Association for Theatre in Higher Education
1000 Westgate Drive, Suite 252
St. Paul, MN 55114
Our website will remain the same (www.athe.org) as will our toll-free phone number (1-888-284-3737).
This announcement is the culmination of an eight-month search process. Our request for proposals elicited more than 25 responses from firms around the country. The Search Committee, led by President-Elect Patricia Ybarra, worked through the spring and summer to review the proposals, and conducted in person interviews with four finalists before making its recommendation to the Governing Council.
I thank Patricia and the other members of the Search Committee (Bill Doan, Nina Lenoir, and Harvey Young) for their service. Please feel free to direct any questions regarding the search or the transition to me at email@example.com.
Henry Bial, ATHE President
