Exploding the Myths: Science, SuperScenes, and Stanislavsky

Dates: Wednesday, August 10 and Thursday, August 11, 2016

This active workshop will address reawakening creativity in the actor and director through psychophysical actor training, active analysis for rehearsal and the use of archetype and SuperScenes. Both teachers will offer relevant insights from contemporary neuroscience, psychology, physiology and other sciences as they reflect on the psychophysical instrument, creativity, emotions, and performance stress.

Call for Applications for Theatre Journal Book Review Editor

Theatre Journal is accepting applications for the position of Book Review Editor. Responsibilities include: commissioning reviews of books relating to theatre and performance; editing reviews; and establishing and maintaining relationships with book publishers. The Book Review Editor is also an ex officio member of the ATHE Research and Publications Committee.

The Book Review Editor will serve a three-year term beginning in Jan. 2017 and ending in Dec. 2019. Theatre Journal is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal featuring social and historical studies and theoretical inquiries that analyze dramatic texts and production.

Please email a letter of interest outlining qualifications, a current CV, and two letters of recommendation to Soyica Colbert, ATHE Vice President for Research and Publications, at sdc71@georgetown.edu. Complete applications are due by Dec. 1, 2015.

ATHE Website Tidbits

There are many features on our website including members-only online community tools similar to those featured in public online communities/social networks of Facebook and Twitter. The value of a private social network is the ability to share ideas, network, connect and collaborate online with other members to enhance the value of your membership investment.

When you log into the website, you will be on the Manage Profile page. The new community features on the website are accessible on the Manage Profile page.

Once you are logged into your member portal, please take a moment to update your information on the Manage Profile page. Under Information & Settings, click on Edit Bio. You can now control the privacy for all of your data. We set a default, so when you are in edit bio, select what is private, members only or public. Simply click on the icon to the left of the data field and select the proper level.
