With exactly 50% of the votes for Vice President-Elect for Conference 2011, Gwendolyn Alker and Josh Abrams became the first co-Vice Presidents for Conference in ATHE's history.


Dr. Joshua Abrams is a Senior Lecturer in Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies at Roehampton University in London and Assistant Editor of PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art. He is ATHE’s Vice President-Elect for Conference 2011 on the Governing Council and was previously the member at large for the finance committee and the Focus Group representative for Performance Studies. His research interests include politics and philosophy in performance and he is currently completing a book-length manuscript on Levinas and contemporary theatre. His publications have appeared widely, including Theatre Journal, TDR, PAJ, Western European Stages, and Slavic and East European Performance, among a variety of other locations. 

 

Dr. Gwendolyn Alker is an Associate Teacher of Theatre Studies in the Department of Drama at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. Her teaching and research interests include gender and performance, Latina/o theatre, and issues of spirituality and embodiment. She is currently curating a festival of the work of María Irene Fornés, to be held in New York during the Spring of 2010. She has also published book chapters, articles and reviews in various journals and books, including Theatre Topics, Theatre Journal, TDR, and Women and Performance, where she was also the Managing Editor.
