Barbara Parisi is Professor of Theatre and Performance Studies and former Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, Performance Studies and Theatre at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus. She has served on ATHE's Marketing and Membership Committee for six years, was Focus Group Representative for Music Theatre/Dance, 1998-2002, and was on the ATHE Conference Planning Committees from 2001-2003.

As MAL/Focus Group Liaison, Barbara primarily facilitates communication among Focus Groups, individual members, and the Governing Council, represents FGR interests on the GC, participates in semiannual meetings, committee work and planning, and conducts elections for MALs. She leads FGR discussions of significant governance issues, responds to questions or concerns, places items suggested by FGRs and Focus Group members on GC meeting agendas, and votes on their behalf.
