Dr. Christin Essin is an Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies at the University of Arizona. She has been an active member of ATHE since 2001, serving the organization as a chair of the Graduate Student Subcommittee, conference planner and focus group representative for Theory and Criticism, member of the Committee on Conferences, and member of the 2007 Conference Committee.
She received her B.A. from Wake Forest University (1993), M.A. from Northwestern University (1997), and Ph.D. in Theatre History and Criticism, with an emphasis in Performance as Public Practice, from the University of Texas at Austin (2006). She has worked previously at Louisiana State University, Texas State University, and at various regional theatres and arts organizations as a storyteller, creative drama instructor, stage manager, and theatre electrician. As a theatre historian, Dr. Essin researches theatrical design history, investigating the ways in which designers reflect and critique the cultural landscapes of American life.
The Vice President for Membership and Marketing chairs the Membership & Marketing Committee.
