Henry Bial is Assistant Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Kansas. His publications include Acting Jewish: Negotiating Ethnicity on the American Stage and Screen (2005), The Performance Studies Reader (2004, Second Edition 2007), and Brecht Sourcebook (2000), as well as various journal articles, book chapters, and reviews. In addition to his ATHE service, Henry is a Board Member of the American Theatre and Drama Society, Co-Chair of the Theatre History Symposium for the Mid-America Theatre Conference, an Academic Council Member of the American Jewish Historical Society, and a member of the editorial boards of Theatre Topics, The Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism and The Baylor Journal of Theatre and Performance. Prior service includes ATHE’s Conference Committee (2005) and terms as FGR and Conference Planner for ATHE’s Performance Studies Focus Group.

The Vice President for Advocacy chairs the Advocacy Committee.
