Joint ASTR-ATHE Committee on National Research Council

Mission and Work of the Committee
The joint ASTR/ATHE Committee on the National Research Council (NRC) was initially formed to promote the inclusion of the disciplines of Theatre and Performance Studies in the NRC's periodic assessment of research doctoral programs in the United States. The committee includes leading Theatre and Performance Studies scholars from doctoral programs around the country. Following the achievement of that initial goal in 2004, the committee has worked with individual members, doctoral programs, and Theatre and Performance Studies departments to disseminate information about and assist programs to participate in this first NRC assessment process for our field, now underway. The committee anticipates remaining actively involved with the current assessment process through its final publication of data and program ratings, anticipated at the end of 2007.
