Creating and Sustaining Interactive and Socially Engaged Theatre
July 22 (evening) and July 23
Scottsdale, AZ
Keynote Facilitator: Michael Rohd

Artists, educators, and activists from the southwest, the US, and beyond come together to explore how to develop lasting initiatives for interactive and socially engaged theatre. Sessions will address partnership development, developing missions, theatrical approaches to building consensus and solving problems, creative approaches to assessment, and topics of the presenters’ choice. Participants will leave with new strategies for their own projects, and refreshed approaches, inspiration, and community.

A talented and internationally recognized group of presenters lead the event. Presenters include Daniel Banks of DNAWORKS and the CUNY SPS M.A. in Applied Theatre, Petra Kuppers of the University of Michigan and The Olimpias, Stephani Woodson of Arizona State University, Curtis Acosta, Milta Ortiz, and Marc Pinate of Borderlands Theatre, Katie Dawson of UT Austin and the Drama For Schools Program, Reid Davis and his students of Saint Mary’s College of California, Margarita Espada of Stonybrook University and Teatro Yerbabruja, Michael Wilson of the CUNY SPS M.A. in Applied Theatre and Man Question, and mime and educator Bill Bowers. Michael Rohd will frame and facilitate the experience and will also present on his work with Sojourn Theatre and the Center for Performance and Civic Practice.
