Keynote Speaker Montreal Conference

Posted By Lionel Walsh, University of Windsor, Monday, February 2, 2015

Hello ATHE Colleagues:  If you have not seen the announcement in the Newsletter or on Twitter, I am excited let you know that

Montreal-based theatre artist, Marie Brassard has accepted our offer to serve as the Keynote Speaker for the Conference Montreal.

Ms Brassard is an internationally renowned playwright, director and performer and is Artistic Director of Infrarouge, a theatre

company devoted to the creation of innovative imagistic theatre. Earlier in her career, she performed with Robert Lepage and can be

seen in the film version of Le Polygraphe.  Her  most recent play is Me Talking to Myself in the Future, which she has performed in

French and English. I have added links at the bottom of this entry if you want to find out more.

I was able to chat on the phone with Ms Brassard recently. She is honoured and very excited about sharing her thoughts on Je me

souviens with us and told me she is inspired  by our theme.  I found her warm and charming on the phone and she has an

infectious laugh.  She has also agreed to speak on a panel on Friday and said that if her schedule permits, she may attend the

whole conference--and Henry allowed that we might be able to get her an all-conference pass.

Stay tuned for more information on this site as more of our plans for Montreal are firmed up.

And, one other note: did you know that the Canadian dollar is now valued at $0.79 US, and expect to drop to $0.75, which will make

your trip to Montreal less expensive than it would have been even six months ago, when our dollar was at par.

au revoir
